Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is well-known for her stellar performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her numerous awards, among them an Oscar. The talented actress began her career in acting in the theatre by performing in a myriad of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Since her childhood she's been passionate about acting. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. Mumps caused her to be deaf and blind in one ear, but she did not allow this to stop her from becoming an actor. The college she attended was drama after which she moved to Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dream. Hunter was stuck in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart in which Hunter made her Broadway debut.
